YouTuber Hassan Campbell shot dead during livestream near New York apartment

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: YouTuber Hassan Campbell was shot and killed in broad daylight while live streaming near a building in New York.

With more than 450,000 subscribers on YouTube, Hassan Campbell, known for his commentary on pop culture trends and reporting, reportedly went to the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the shoulder, according to police.

Hassan Campbell once accused DJ Afrika Bambaataa of sexual abuse

The Sun reported that in 2016, Campbell gained attention by accusing DJ Afrika Bambaataa of sexually assaulting him as a child.

He is among a group of Bronx men who have made allegations of abuse against Bambaataa. The rapper and producer rose to prominence by introducing an electric style to the hip-hop scene in the 1980s.

Campbell accused Bambaataa of being a “pervert” with a preference for “little boys.”

Bambaataa, 66, has always denied all allegations and so far no charges have been brought against him.

On Sunday morning, Campbell was live streaming to discuss Cassie’s lawsuit against hip-hop legend Sean Diddy Combs.



In the lawsuit, Cassie, who was in a relationship with Diddy from 2007 to 2018, claimed she suffered years of abuse from the rapper. She claimed he would supply her with drugs and record her meeting prostitutes.

He said in the livestream that his alleged experiments won’t go viral because “no one cares (sic) about the neighborhood kids.”

“I am totally disrespecting the industry… What are you telling me (sic)? Was my life and my pain worthless? he said in the video.

He also appears to have had a confrontation with someone in the apartment, who even appeared to throw rocks or objects at him, further fueling his anger.

He repeatedly yells and yells at someone, daring them to come out.

Campbell was shot in the shoulder and taken to the hospital.

As the stream continued, he began shouting in public and challenged everyone watching to fight him, while locals walked around the square.

The video then shows him suddenly sitting in the back of a car, urgently urging the driver to take him to hospital.

“I need to get to the hospital quickly. I have to go to the hospital, I was shot, son,” he could be heard saying.



The New York City Police Department confirmed to The Sun that Campbell was shot in the shoulder and taken to the hospital.

A post on his YouTube channel mentioned that he was headed for surgery and hoped to recover. So far, police have not identified any suspects in the shooting.
