Who is the real Kayla Lemieux?
Lemieux, who was recently suspended after photos of her wearing men’s clothing sparked a debate over the authenticity of Z-cup prosthetic breasts, used her newly created Twitter account to take on online haters. On Sunday, she was seen tweeting in response to a critic, claiming she wasn’t the man. She wrote, “No! Not me.”
It sparked a back-and-forth conversation when one person tweeted, “His identity may not be yours, but you share the same body.” Lemieux replied, “Well, I wouldn’t agree with that. I’m pretty fit and take care of myself.” The individual, defending his point of view, wrote: “What I am saying is that the two bodies are in fact the same body. Two separate identities sharing the same body.”

Lemieux, on the other hand, has expressed discomfort with being judged based on her gender identity. Recently, she tweeted, “If people feel the need to judge me, I’d rather not be judged on my gender identity and/or my looks! What about my ability to prepare lessons and assessment tools? to engage students in the ease of the 21st century? Β»

“There are people who don’t understand me”
Many parents in the school district launched campaigns to have Lemieux fired after she was criticized for wearing the prosthetic breasts. Concerned parents have set up a legal fund on GoFundMe to take legal action against the school to force Lemieux to follow the dress code.
Lemieux was finally suspended on Tuesday, February 28, after photographs of her showed she was not always wearing the controversial clothes. Nevertheless, she is paid for her work at Oakville Trafalgar High School.
Regarding his suspension, Lemieux wrote: βIt’s true. Currently, I can no longer call Oakville Trafalgar High School home. Despite everything that happened during my stay there, I absolutely loved the school. 99% of my interactions with students and staff were positive. Of course, nothing can ever be perfect.

previously reported that Lemieux began transitioning from male to female in 2021. As of September 2022, she was protected by the Halton District School Board, which declined to comment because it was a “matter of staff”. The district says intervening or criticizing would be against Ontario’s Human Rights Code. So far, parents at the school where Lemieux worked have expressed relief that she’s finally been granted leave.
“There are people who don’t understand me. This can lead to fear. This fear can lead to hate! If someone looks different from what you consider ‘normal’, try to show of kindness and empathy. At the end of the day we are ALL people. We are ALL doing our best to survive…” Lemieux wrote.
