Why Keanu Reeves Said Johnny Depp Was “Prettier” Than Him Before He Won The Matrix Franchise

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Keanu Reeves has a lot of admirers, but the ‘John Wick’ star apparently feels like he’s nothing in front of Johnny Depp. Reeves and Depp were contemporaries starting their careers around the same time, and it’s been said there was a time when the 58-year-old claimed to be less handsome than the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star.

In 1991, Reeves reportedly shared with UK music magazine Smash Hits (via WhoaIsNotMe.com) that “Johnny Depp had another world happen to him – he got locked into this TV series (i.e. say “21 Jump Street”) and television is seen by more people than I would ever dream of. And Johnny Depp is better looking than me.

“I’m a big prick”

That’s not all. Amazingly, in 2003, “The Matrix Resurrections” star even called herself “stupid.” According to a report by The Independent, he said: “I’m a big prick. You have smart people and you have stupid people. I happen to be stupid. He also doesn’t believe in the happiness that comes from success and lots of money.

For Reeves, happiness is “being in bed with my lover, riding a bike, playing sports, happy times with my friends, conversation, learning, dirt, dirt, a nice meal with friends, family with glorious wine and food and good news and energy and zest and lust for life. I love being in the desert, in nature, being in extraordinary spaces in nature, high in a tree or in the ground, hanging out with my family, my sisters.

“I love the world of John Wick”

Not much has changed in the ‘Constantine’ star although he now manages to cement himself as one of the top favourites. Recently, he sat down with Entertainment Tonight and discussed “John Wick 4” while praising his co-workers and director. He said, “I love playing the character. I love the John Wick universe. Chapter 4 is so ambitious. The director, Chad Stahelski, had such a broad vision for the film. We have so many new characters.

Referencing the success of the franchise, he went on to say, “It feels authentic in a way, you know what I mean? It still has that independent film spirit. I feel like John Wick is giving heart to the audience, like, come in! Come over ! Buckle up, you’ll see some action. It’s going to be fun, there’s going to be ideas, rules, consequences, surviving getting knocked down and getting back up. Fight for your freedom. Go against the man. So there are a lot of things that we can identify with.

“I work with incredible artists and stories”

The ‘Bill & Ted’ actor added, “I think it refers to the movies I’ve been lucky enough to be in. I mean, I work with amazing artists and stories. And those directors, those people and these studios sometimes agree to let me participate in storytelling.

Reeves also mentioned her co-star Ana De Armas and said, “She’s an amazing artist. The story was there, and this artist fits it perfectly…Ana said, ‘I love this painting, but I’m going to make it mine.” So it was cool to be in someone else’s painting but to be the painting and the landscape.
