What does the blue ribbon symbolize?
On Sunday night, the ribbon, seen on many lapels, had a special meaning. According to reports, the accessory signifies support for refugees and other displaced people around the world. They were created by the United Nations Refugee Agency Coalition, with “#WithRefugees” being one of their slogans. Each ribbon is handcrafted by Knotty Tie Co., a US-based apparel company that helps resettle refugees in Denver, Colorado.
In a recent press release issued by the company, he said, “Wearing the #WithRefugees blue ribbon on the red carpet sends a powerful visual message that everyone has the right to seek safety – anyone, anywhere. it be, when it is.

During awards season, some big names joined the global movement, including Best Actress nominee Cate Blanchett. “What I love about cinema is how it pulls us into compelling human themes to uncover the connective tissue that binds us all together,” she wrote in a press statement. “Whenever I have met refugees – in places like Lebanon, Jordan or Bangladesh, in the UK, or at home in Australia – what has struck me has not been their ‘otherness’ but how many things we share in common.” Several actors, including ‘Triangle of Sadness’ Dolly De Leon, have also shown their support for the film industry. “At a time when so many people are suffering around the world, showing a little kindness and compassion to our fellow human beings shouldn’t be a big ask,” she said.
