‘Wayne’s World’ star Dana Carvey pays heartbreaking tribute to son Dex, who died in ‘terrible tragedy’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actor and comedian Dana Carvey’s eldest son, Dex Carvey, recently died of a drug overdose. Dana and her wife Paula Zwagerman wrote a heartbreaking tribute to her late son on social media.

Le revealed in the tribute: “Last night we experienced a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old.”

Dana continued in her tribute: “Dex accumulated a lot over those 32 years. He was extremely talented in so many areas – music, art, filmmaking, acting – and he did them all pursued with passion.”

Ana and Paula noted that their late son made people love life, but “most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee.” The couple added: “Dex was a magnificent person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. He will be missed forever.”

Dana concluded the tribute with prayers for those “struggling with addiction.” He shared, “Everyone who struggles with addiction or loves someone who struggles with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”

Dex died around 10 p.m. PT after first responders rushed to his house after receiving a call from his girlfriend, Kaylee, as TMZ reports.

Dex allegedly locked himself in the bathroom and was unresponsive when authorities discovered him. He is survived by his parents, Dana and Paula, as well as a brother, Thomas.

Dex Carvey opened Netflix’s ‘Straight White Male’ for his father Dana

Dex Carvey recently launched his career in entertainment. He followed in his father Dana Carvey’s footsteps into comedy.

Dana’s eldest son Dex opened for the “Saturday Night Live” alum’s 2016 Netflix special, “Straight White Male.” During the concert, Dex delivered material he had been working on that covered everything from Pride parades to stories about his famous father.

The short 6 minute set was overall a success for Dex and he joked about his father, cults and more.

Dex Carvey was to star in an animated series of the comic strip “B-Sides”

Dex Carvey recently starred in “B-Sides” Comic, an animated series. The series was founded by the entertainment outlet Forbidden Planet.

Dex starred in the series alongside his business partner Mike Masilotti and Nolan Culver. Aside from his comedy and acting gigs, Dex also started a production company called Antonio’s Deli Productions.

The company launched an audio series called “The Weird Place.” He also founded and opened a venue in Hollywood called Third Wheel.

The venue has been rated as an “underground comedy venue showcasing rising stars and hilarious legends every night.” It was founded alongside Mike and Avery Ross.

Who is Paula Zwagerman, the wife of comedian Dana Carvey?

Paula Zwagerman is the second wife of Dana Carvey. She married the comedian in 1983 after first meeting him at the Other Café in San Francisco.

Paula chooses to keep her personal life private and stay away from social media. However, she welcomed her first son, Dex, with Dana in 1991.

Dana and Paula welcomed their second child, Thomas Carvey, in 1993.
