Victor Shi Thinks Gen Z Could Help Biden Win in 2024, But Israel-Hamas War Protests May Differ
WASHINGTON, DC: Victor Shi, Joe Biden’s youngest delegate-elect, sang the president’s praises by saying America’s youth would vote for him in 2024 because of his response to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
The 21-year-old UCLA student appeared on MSNBC’s “American Voices” on Sunday, Nov. 19, when he said a recent poll found “half of Gen Z” supports POTUS.

“A recent poll released earlier this week reveals that in fact, half of Gen Z is more supportive than any other generation of what this president is doing in terms of his response to Israel and Gaza. So I think the polls only paint a certain picture,” he said.

Shi went on to say that Biden “worked around the clock to reach an agreement between Israel and Hamas to suspend funding.”
“President Biden is fighting anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. Yesterday he wrote an opinion piece in the Washington Post saying he was prepared to impose sanctions on Israeli settlers who attack innocent Palestinian civilians and children,” he said.

At one point, Shi noted that Gen Z saw a starkly contrasting response from Republicans and Donald Trump, who “fans the flames of hatred and division, attacking Muslims and Jewish people.”
“President Biden continues to do a lot, so I think the challenge going into 2024 is to really get that message out there and really make sure that young people hear that message and know that President Biden is doing everything he can to resolve this problem and to minimize civilian casualties on both sides,” he added.
Few media outlets will say it, so leave it with me: polls don’t vote. People do. As in 2020, 2022, and 2023, Gen Z will show up, prove the polls wrong, and re-elect Joe Biden, who has done so much good for all of us.

He then gave examples from several US states where young voters showed support for Biden and voted for Democrats.
“Time and again, before every election, we see the polls paint a certain picture, but voting behaviors actually reveal a different reality,” he said.
“We saw it a few weeks ago in states like Virginia. Kentucky and other states where young voters turned out and voted for Democrats. So I think there is a certain level of connection with the Democratic Party, but it is going to have to be maintained throughout 2024,” he concluded.
What I said: Yes, Israel and Gaza are a serious problem for young people. But it’s clear that today’s poll only paints a certain picture. Other polls show nearly half of young people SUPPORT Biden in his response. So don’t listen to the polls. Look what he does…

Protests against Israel-Hamas war overshadow Victor Shi’s claims
Shi claimed that Generation Z supported Biden in his response to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, but ongoing protests against the war between Israel and Hamas painted a mixed picture.
Earlier in November, thousands of protesters, mostly young citizens, gathered in Washington DC to call for a ceasefire in Gaza amid Israel’s relentless bombing campaign, with some accusing Biden of support the United States’ main ally in the Middle East.

“Free Palestine, free” and “End the siege of Gaza now,” several demonstrators shouted while some “Biden, Biden, you can’t hide, you signed the genocide” and “We say no, Genocide Joe “, according to AFP.
Pro-Palestinian protesters have been denouncing Biden since he declared $100 million in humanitarian aid for the Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and asked Congress for an ‘unprecedented’ military aid package for Israel .
At another rally, protesters held signs and banners with messages such as “Biden is betraying us” and “In November, we remember,” highlighting how this issue could be a factor in the re-election bid of Biden, according to PBS.
