The tragic and preventable murder of Jonathan Lewis: 17-year-old Las Vegas teenager beaten to death by gang of bullies
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Jonathan Lewis, a 17-year-old Las Vegas high school student, tragically died after being brutally beaten by a huge group of nearly 15 bullies.
Lewis was allegedly punched by bullies near Rancho High School on Nov. 1 while trying to defend a “boyfriend” who had been robbed by the gang, according to a GoFundMe page set up by his family.

The teen was rushed to a local hospital after officers found him around 2:05 p.m. that day, apparently bleeding from the head.
He was placed on life support at University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries on Tuesday, November 7 following numerous attempts by medical professionals to save his life.
“All I can do is hope that there is a way to find forgiveness in their [attackers] heart and find a way to accept what they did,” said the teenager’s father, also named Jonathan Lewis.

The grieving father revealed his son was an aspiring artist who lived in Las Vegas with his mother. However, Lewis planned to move to live with his father in Austin, Texas.
“Violence begets more violence and these kids don’t even know what they’re doing half the time,” the grieving father told 8NewsNow.

After Lewis’ death, a video surfaced showing the teenager being kicked by a group of about 15 youths as he lay curled up on the sidewalk. At least two teenagers stood nearby, filming the attack on their cellphones.
Lewis’ father said his son was defending a “boyfriend” who was robbed and allegedly thrown into a trash can.
He called Lewis “brave” and expressed his desire to donate his son’s organs to help others.

Who was arrested in the death of Jonathan Lewis?
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has opened a homicide investigation into Lewis’ death, but no arrests have been made so far.
However, Lewis’ father said investigators told the family they planned to charge several students involved in the killing.
Lewis’ family created a GoFundMe page called “Heart of a Champion Our Son,” which has already raised $40,563 of the $25,000 goal.
“He will always be as loved as his father, I will always keep him in my heart, I will shine even more, I will love even more and I will work all my life to bring peace to this world”, we can read in the collection of funds.
“Even though our hearts are broken and this tragedy is absolutely senseless madness, we want to focus on our son’s legacy. Jonathan was a loving, generous, kind and fierce young man who loved the community and cared for others,” he continued.
