Speaking about her cancer, Ally said: “Five years ago, on September 5, 2018, I heard the dreaded words ‘You have cancer’ and since then I have heard those words 5 additional times, this which makes this the 6th fight for my life… At 16, I was forced to think about my life and the end more than a child should.
She continued: “This is why we need more funding for research. I think children should not be faced with life or death situations. I believe we can help raise money to fight cancer. It’s important to know and learn about cancer because it can be anyone. I thought it could never be me until it was, and I quickly realized how common it was. You don’t need a diagnosis about yourself or someone you love to get involved.

At Ally’s request, the initial funding will support the promising research being conducted by Oncoheroes.
Oncoheroes is dedicated to developing new treatments for children with cancer and is currently conducting an academic trial to test its lead compound, Volasertib.
The goal of this trial is to find signs of effectiveness in several types of pediatric cancers, including rhabdomyosarcoma.
This basket trial would constitute the first comprehensive pediatric evaluation of this promising compound and would serve as the basis for a subsequent global registration trial in the most appropriate pediatric indication.
The Ally Anderson Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma Research Fund has received 59% of its $50,000 goal, having raised more than $29,000.
