‘So disrespectful!’ Oscars 2023 ‘In Memoriam’ segment excludes Anne Heche and Leslie Jordan, among others
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Oscars’ “In Memoriam” slate has once again drawn bad press. The Oscars’ most sensitive segment has been accused of missing out on big names almost every year. This was the case during the 95th Academy Awards, which was held on Sunday March 12 as well.
This year, the Academy has been criticized for missing out on Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Leslie Jordan and Tony Sirico, among others. The segment started with John Travolta getting emotional as he paid tribute to his “Grease” co-star, Olivia Newton-John. “They made us smile and became dear friends to whom we will always remain desperately devoted,” the Hollywood veteran said. He also paid tribute to his friend Kirstie Alley.

The segment was accompanied by a heartfelt musical tribute from Lenny Kravitz, who played “Calling All Angels.” After the onstage segment concluded, the Academy asked viewers to check the website for the full list, which however could not appease the audience.
Who was missing from the “In Memoriam” list?
Many names, including that of Charlbi Dean, have been omitted. Dean starred in “Triangle of Sadness,” a film nominated for three Oscars this year, including Best Picture. The talented actress died in August 2022 of bacterial sepsis.
Another important name missing from the list was Anne Heche. Heche died in a fatal car accident in August 2022. She was in a coma for a week before being declared brain dead, after which the actress’ organs were donated. Leslie Jordan, known for “Call me Kat” and who died in October 2022, was also absent from the tributes.
Conspicuously absent from the Lost were Tony Sirico and Paul Sorvino of ‘Les Affranchis’. While Sorvino appeared in many hit productions, including “Romeo + Juliet,” Sirico veteran Woody Allen was known for “The Sopranos” and “Gotti.”
‘Saving Private Ryan’ star Tom Sizemore and ‘Baretta’ star Robert Blake were also dropped from the list. However, they both passed away in March, before the Oscar race.
‘Really Oscars??’
Fans made it clear that they weren’t happy at all on social media. One enraged fan wrote, “Really Oscar? Total Loser Punk is moving #Oscars.” Another fan wrote, “I totally agree. Too many popular and important people stayed for the QR code at the end, so disrespectful to the artists we grew up with.” Another fan said, “Can someone explain why this happens every year? Oscar In Memoriam segment misses Oscar-nominated Paul Sorvino, Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Leslie Jordan and Charlbi Dean of ‘Triangle Of Sadness?’ One Heche fan wrote, ‘Because the Academy let her outside of their #InMemoriam; more than 30 feature films, half of which were studio films. #AnneHeche, one of the most daring actresses and a true pioneer. #Oscars2023 #AcademyAwards2023.”
Really Oscar?? You don’t include Paul Sorvino in the ‘In Memoriam?

I couldn’t agree more. Too many popular and important people were left behind for the QR code at the end, so disrespectful to the artists we grew up with.
