Rumer Willis wants dad Bruce Willis to walk her down the aisle, rushes to prepare for wedding after dementia shock
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rumer Willis is doing everything she can to make sure her deteriorating father, Bruce Willis, can attend her wedding. The pregnant actress reportedly planned her own nuptials to make it happen.
The heartbroken family recently announced that the 67-year-old ‘Die Hard’ star was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia on February 16. The tragic update came after the actor was revealed to have aphasia, a language disorder that affects a person’s ability to communicate. He was forced to stop acting in March 2022 due to his condition, which usually occurs after a brain injury or stroke.

“Hurry up”
“Rumer desperately wants his dad to not only remember his wedding, but be part of it,” a family friend told Radar Online. “The fact that the doctors said he would only have a few years left before the worst effects of aphasia set in motivates Rumer’s decision to get married as soon as possible,” a source said, adding : “In some It’s a wonderful gift for her to give her dad given that she will have to do a lot of the planning during her pregnancy. But everyone in the family knows that time is running out.”
Rumer, 34, one of Bruce’s three daughters with ex-wife Demi Moore, 60, announced in December that she was pregnant by her musician boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas. Sources reportedly recently spotted a huge sparkler on her ring finger. “Bruce is already planning to walk Rumer down the aisle and give a big speech,” a family source told the outlet. “It gives her something to look forward to and fight for – with the birth of Rumer’s baby!”
“Painful to see it deteriorate”
The beleaguered actor’s downward spiral has been difficult for his oldest children to watch. “It was painful to watch him deteriorate,” the source said, adding, “The older girls miss the old Bruce, the one who teased them about their boyfriends and gave them unsolicited advice.” It should be noted that Demi and Bruce have become closer than ever following the actor’s health issues. The duo – widely considered Hollywood’s nicest exes – were married for 11 years and share daughters Rumer, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 28.

previously reported how Bruce’s family “cherished every moment” with him. “Demi has been in constant contact with Bruce and [his current wife] Emma,” a source told Radar Online. “She takes every opportunity to hang out with him. If she’s not there by his side, she calls on the phone just so Bruce can hear her voice. So Emma was really the voice and the communicator for him.”
The whole family rallied around the beleaguered actor during this difficult time. “They know he won’t be around forever,” the insider revealed. “So they cherish every moment.”
