PLAINS, GEORGIA: The funeral of former President Jimmy Carter’s wife, Rosalynn Carter, would be held in Plains, Georgia, next week, according to an announcement from the Carter Center, The Hill reported.
The service would be part of remembrance ceremonies, including a wreath laying and tribute. A funeral service for invited family and friends will also be held at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains on November 22.

Carter died at the age of 96 at her home in Plains on Sunday, November 19, shortly after joining her husband in entering hospice care.
The former first lady was reportedly diagnosed with dementia in March, nearly a month after her husband entered hospice care.

Following the funeral of invited family and friends at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains on Wednesday, Carter’s casket was reportedly taken to the Carter family residence for private burial.
The Carter Center reportedly said the public was invited to follow the procession route in designated viewing areas as the former first lady’s casket left the church.

On Monday, November 27, Carter’s body will be transferred to a hearse from a medical center in Americus, Georgia. Her remains will then be transported to the Rosalynn Carter Health and Human Sciences Complex at Georgia Southwestern State University, where officials have planned a wreath-laying ceremony.
The public will also be able to pay their respects to Carter throughout the motorcade’s route to the university, the Carter Center reportedly said.
Members of the public were also invited to pay their respects to the former first lady at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, where she will be laid to rest.
On Tuesday, November 28, a departure ceremony will be held from the Presidential Library and a tribute service will be held with guests at Glenn Memorial Church.

As numerous tributes poured in for Rosalynn Carter following her passing, the former US president shared a heartfelt statement on his wife’s passing via the Carter Center.
He said Carter was his “equal partner in everything I accomplished.” “She gave me sound advice and encouragement when I needed it,” he added.
“As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew someone loved me and supported me,” the former president said.

Carter is survived by her husband, four children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, according to the Carter Center.
