Lauren Graham has ‘just tears in her eyes’ as she mourns the death of close friend Matthew Perry at 54

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lauren Graham talks about her memories with her close friend Matthew Perry, who died at the age of 54.

On CBS Mornings, the “Gilmore Girls” alum chatted with Gayle King on Thursday, Nov. 16, and reflected on the bond she had with the “Friends” actor.

Lauren Graham says there was ‘so much joy to be there’ Matthew Perry

Graham, who was on the morning show to promote his latest book “Have I Told You Already?” “, explained what it was like to be Perry’s friend.

“No one made me laugh so much. I mean, just the tears were flowing. There was so much joy being with him and being his friend.”

She then spoke about Perry’s memoir “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.”

“Last year he was very proud of the book he had written and how many people it had touched,” she said.

“It was a success that brought him some happiness. I hadn’t seen him for a long time, so it’s a good memory,” Graham said.

In her 2022 book, Perry shared a photo of Graham resting his head on her shoulder and captioned it: “Me and the beautiful Lauren Graham.”

The “Parenthood” alum was shocked to hear the news of her “Studio 60 on Sunset Trip” co-star’s death.

“Completely. I’m still in shock. It’s just a really tragic loss, and he leaves his beautiful work behind, and that’s something to be grateful for. Again, the book really meant something thing for him, so it was a really happy year for him,” Graham said.

In her 2016 memoir “Talking As Fast As I Can,” Graham opened up about how Perry became her longtime friend.

“The only good thing guy-wise was at an event where I met Matthew Perry,” she wrote.

“He became my longtime friend who I almost dated but never exactly, or FWIABNED,” she added.

The duo began working together in “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” a short-lived series by Aaron Sorkin. Graham and Perry starred in the 2008 film “Birds of America” and an episode of “The Odd Couple.”

On October 28, Perry died at his home in Los Angeles. The ‘Fools Rush In’ actor was found unconscious in a jacuzzi.

He was pronounced dead before first responders arrived. The autopsy performed by the Los Angeles County medical examiner was inconclusive, according to ET Online. Perry’s cause of death has not yet been determined.
