Why was Juan Dixon fired from Copping State?

The basketball head coach’s firing came amid a sexual assault trial. According to The Baltimore Brew, he was named as a defendant in a lawsuit brought against the University and an assistant coach over sexually explicit allegations. A former player, Ibn Williams, has sued and accused Coppin State assistant coach Lucian Brownlee of online catfishing. Online dating then turned into graphic text and photos. The legal document claimed that “by information and belief”, Brownlee “harassed, tormented and sexually assaulted” the player before posting his intimate material online. Juan was named in the lawsuit filed against the University. It was reported that he took no action against Brownlee. Rather than support Williams, Juan claimed to have “severely questioned and retaliated” by withdrawing previously promised financial aid. Williams claimed: “The way he dealt with it was abhorrent.” According to the complaint filed, Juan had prior knowledge of the ordeal. But he never did anything. “The coach should have known not to put this person in a position of seniority,” Williams attorney Daniel “Donny” Epstein said.

The Eagles have the most wins under Juan Dixon

Juan was a former NBA player. He was also an All-America player at Maryland. Juan led the Eagles program for six seasons. He took over the program before 2017. Additionally, the former Terrapins star racked up the most wins during the 2019-20 season, helping Coppin State win 11 games. The Eagles have also had the most wins under Juan’s watch in 2020-21. Despite the tough competition, the Eagles lost to Norfolk State in the MEAC title game 9-23.
