‘It’s not a job for someone approaching 80’: Ron DeSantis says Biden and Trump are too old for 2024 presidency

WATERLOO, IOWA: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, in an exclusive one-on-one with CNN, argued that former President Donald Trump and outgoing President Joe Biden are too old to seek another presidential term.

The 45-year-old Republican candidate told Jake Tapper on the State of the Union talk show that the presidency is “not a job for someone approaching 80.”

DeSantis thinks Trump, who is 77, and Biden, who turned 81 on Nov. 20, are far too old compared to him.

“I just think that’s something that was demonstrated with Joe Biden. Father Time is undefeated. Donald Trump is not exempt from any of this,” the White House hopeful said.

He also discussed various topics, including Trump, Biden, the Israel-Hamas war and Elon Musk.

With less than two months until the 2024 Iowa Republican presidential caucuses, which will take place on January 15, 2024, the Florida governor continues to lag behind Trump.

DeSantis noted, “Trump would actually be older on January 20, 2025, than Biden was on January 20, 2021.”

The governor then took digs at the former president, saying he was not the same person he was in 2015 or 2016, when he “showed up on the debate stage” and “he was raging.”

He noted that now Trump is “tied to the teleprompter, he’s not willing to debate, he’s relying on many of the same things he promised to do in 2016 and not delivering on them.” DeSantis also indirectly challenged Trump to come to the debate and defend his results and decisions.

For him, the confidence placed in his age makes him the ideal candidate of the Republican Party for the presidential election. DeSantis said he was “in the prime of his life.” “I’m going on day one. I’ll serve two terms, get big results, and get the country moving again.”

Netizens React to Ron DeSantis’ ‘Too Old’ Statement

Age has become the central theme of the 2024 presidential campaign. Although DeSantis highlights it as an important issue for the nation, social media has a mixed opinion on the issue. While half are concerned about the ages of Trump and Biden, the other half are interested in their performance as presidents.
