Candy or cause of death? Bizarre photo of woman taken 2 days before she died baffles the internet

Reddit was awash with morbid theories after a user shared a bizarre image of a dead person’s phone. The photo was taken two days before the person died. The user asked on the platform, “What is this weird photo found on a dead person’s phone? It might be unrelated, but they got sick and died two days after it was taken, so there’s little context.”

Reddit descended into chaos after the photo was posted, with several users pushing outlandish theories about the photo. The post has drawn a lot of attention and garnered 431 comments so far.

Melted candies?

One Reddit user wrote on the platform: “Unfortunately there is little context in this photo due to the circumstances. I can’t imagine what it is as it certainly doesn’t look like anything the person can ever eat.” The same user added another message that read: “The photo was taken last Friday evening around 9 p.m. The next morning, the person (43F) was very ill with extreme abdominal pain, eventually progressing to full body aches. Found dead Monday morning. Medical examiner’s report and cause of death pending.”

Another user speculated that the image was of melted candy and wrote: “I agree unless you can get your hands on the multicolored drop in the jar. It could be candy melted, or whatever. I imagine a bunch of marshmallows and candy bars slowly melting in the pot, along with a bunch of other styles of candy, like Skittles, Jujubees, or American crap candy.”

‘An organ’

A third user claimed: “The chances of this being the cause are pretty low – even if it’s an organ, cooking it will fix 99% of what might be in there, and the rest is almost certain to cause other symptoms along with the pain. The body will do its best to purge both extremities if something goes wrong.

The user added: “While it would cause other symptoms as well, the abdominal pain and duration is very much like appendicitis leading to sepsis. It would be immediately obvious to the coroner, and if it was something thing eaten, it would probably show up on a toxicology report, so you’re probably going to get away with it one way or another.”

“A very large cyst”

Another user made an even more morbid claim and wrote, “This kind of cyst looks like a really big cyst. If she had abdominal pain, she might have passed this just before. It could have been a she didn’t even know she had it until she adopted it. Just because it’s in a jar doesn’t mean it was meant for consumption.”
